A home with barely any accents or decorations is more drab than fab. If you want to liven up your abode, wall decorations may just do the trick. Yet given the many wall decor options in the market today, exactly how do you select the right ones for your home?
Consider the room’s function.
Some people select wall décor with very little consideration for where the pieces will be installed. You wouldn’t wear a tracksuit to a sit-down dinner, so why would you decorate your kitchen with scary, gothic-inspired images? When picking wall art, therefore, have a clear idea of the room’s overall look and function. More

Are you having trouble coming up with nice designs for your room? Sometimes, no matter how much you repaint your walls or move your furniture around, it just isn’t enough. Don’t settle for a dull, lifeless room.
It can never hurt to have a source of inspiration in your own space. So why not let wall murals be the type of decor that makes your room stand out? It’s very simple to have done, yet it can draw a lot of attention.
Having a mural allows you to express your interests on your wall—your home will be uniquely you with any mural you choose. Murals can be an exciting accent to any place in your home, whether it’s the living room, the dining room, the kitchen or your own room. It adds interest, color and also can become the topic of conversation among your guests.
For larger spaces, small murals can serve as the focal point. For smaller rooms however, landscape murals can be painted onto the walls to make the room appear more spacious. This technique creates an illusion that the room is bigger.
If you’re lost as to what design you should choose, stick to designs that are relevant to the location- like a fruit basket for the dining area or the kitchen. You can also place designs that you consider inspirational.

If you love to watch romantic-comedy movies, you may have seen some characters that try to pick up girls by asking them what their zodiac signs are. However, while the “What’s your sign?” line is played out in these rom-coms primarily for comedic effect, the concept of astrology is actually based on mathematics and science. In the past, people believed that astrology can indicate what the future holds. In these modern times, that belief still stands.
Astrology also indicates romantic compatibility between people. The determining factor for romantic compatibility is sometimes based on astrology, too. For example, water signs like Cancer and Pisces are said to be compatible, as well as the earth signs like Capricorn and Virgo. A relationship between a Cancer and a Capricorn is not necessarily doomed but is believed to be full of challenges, so the couple will have to exert more effort to make the relationship work.
It is also believed that people’s characteristics are dependent on their astrological signs. Pisceans are said to overflow with compassion and devotion, while Scorpions are extremely loyal and resourceful. Some astrology art works like paintings and wall decorations show these wonderful qualities, which would make wonderful inspirations for those who are struggling to know themselves or for those who have lost their way.

Art has existed for as long as man has. From cave wall paintings, to hieroglyphs, to Romantic canvasses, to postmodern splatters, visual art has always been created by humans who want to express themselves when words do not suffice.
People also love to collect and display art as much as they love to create them, with famous paintings by artists like Van Gogh and Picasso selling for millions of dollars. Some might wonder why people would spend such an exorbitant amount of money for a painting, but there are reasons why different individuals keep inspirational wall decorations:
Interior Design. A painting can greatly alter the appearance of a specific room. A carefully chosen piece can add personality to a certain space. Good purchases can make a middle-income family’s home feel like a millionaire’s.
Abundance of Art. There are a lot of artworks that are constantly created around the world, and one of them is bound to fit right inside someone’s home.
Relaxation. Looking at visual art that one finds beautiful enables the brain to release a pheromone that is also present when one is in love. Looking at art that one loves helps one to relax, given the hustle and bustle of modern-day living.
Of course, one does not need to purchase classical or monumental works to enjoy such benefits. Any painting, sculpture, or decorative print can give a person inspiration and joy, as long as he or she chooses artwork with personal meaning.

It’s been months since you’ve moved to your new place and your walls are still as bare ever. Staring at the blank walls gives you designer’s itch, but you think the money will be better spent elsewhere. Don’t put off interior decorating anymore! There are a few DIY wall décor ideas that are both affordable and beautiful.
If you received one too many sets of china for your wedding, chances are they’re still sitting around unused. Unless you plan to regularly host fancy dinners in order to use them, why not sacrifice one set as wall décor? You can buy disc hangers and arrange the plates in symmetrical or asymmetrical patterns that will be a treat to the eye.
You can also re-purpose any old window into a vintage picture frame. Just get reprints of your wedding pictures and re-size them to fit the individual panes. Secure the pictures with scotch tape and hang the window-cum-picture frame on the wall.
Lastly, if an interesting fabric design catches your eye, you can buy a few yards of it and turn it into wall décor. Ask your new hubby to cut a piece of plywood, wrap the cloth around it, staple down the loose ends at the back, and voila—textured wall decor. (Pro-tip: You can also use a Styrofoam board if hubby isn’t too handy with power tools.)
Getting wall decorations doesn’t have to be bank-breaking. Remember, blank walls are blank canvasses that you can make interesting with a little creativity.

Growing up in the city, studying within the city, and working within the city can effectively distance someone from the wonderful world that is found where the paved roads end. Unfortunately, planning a trip outdoors or doing something such as taking a hike is almost impossible to pull off for any individual with work responsibilities. The solution then is to bring nature inside the home. While it may not be quite the same thing, artwork and decorations based on nature can work as wonderful additions for your home.
Beautifully executed inspirational wall decorations that draw from fanciful themes could certainly add a lot of life and stimulation to a room. Sylvan scenes derived from various cultures’ mythologies go a long way in making a home’s interior design interesting. Such artworks can have a profound effect on audiences, as they can transform the character of your home a great deal.
Carefully arrange these works of art inside your home to create your ideal design scheme. You can choose to spread them out across the rooms of your home; or maybe concentrate them in one area. You can even use these wall decorations to create design themes that will work to inspire you and beautify your home.
